“It is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self “

Donald Woods Winnicott

Artists and Creatives

The therapy relationship is inherently creative and collaborative. It is an invitation to play: that is, to discover meaning through exploration and experiment. And, like art, it involves sharing something of one’s inner life with another person.

My own background is in the arts, and I have considerable experience helping people for whom creativity is an animating force. I understand the practical, professional and emotional challenges of the creative life, including instability, insecurity and isolation as well as the enormous potential rewards.

Self-criticism, perfectionism and imposter syndrome can affect anyone but are particularly common among artists. Issues around work-life balance and burnout can also present themselves in careers that require a high degree of emotional investment.

I have worked successfully to help people manage the above difficulties, release blocks around creativity and career stagnation, and feel more fulfilled in their life and work.
